1. Introduction
Clitheroe Parish Church Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society is a society whose aim is to provide live entertainment in Clitheroe and that members enjoy themselves in the process. The society is dedicated to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected from all members to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.
2. How We Treat Each Other
2.1 All members should be treated with kindness, respect and dignity.
2.2 All members and volunteers should receive equal treatment regardless of:
• Gender, including gender reassignment
• Marital or civil partnership status
• Sexual orientation
• Race, colour, ethnic or national origins
• Religion or belief
• Pregnancy or maternity
• Disability
2.3 Any form of discrimination, harassment, or bullying will not be tolerated. This includes verbal, physical, and emotional abuse. Any concerns or suspicions of abuse and neglect must be reported promptly.
2.4 This is people’s hobby, humour is vital and it plays a large part in creating a happy, healthy environment, but members will be mindful that one person’s “banter” may be another person’s embarrassment.
3. Rehearsal Environment
3.1 Casting decisions made by the production team will be accepted in good grace.
3.2 The production team will treat everyone involved in the production with respect. The production team should also be treated in the same way.
3.3 The production team and cast should arrive on time for rehearsals, meetings, and performances. If unable to attend, members should inform the director or society secretary as soon as possible.
3.4 There is an expectation that members refrain from using inappropriate language or behaviour that may disrupt rehearsals or performances.
3.5 If there is a concern or issue, members have a responsibility to bring it up with a member of the committee or an appropriate person.
3.6 All members must take care of the society’s property and facilities, ensuring they are used responsibly and left in good condition.
4. Confidentiality and Privacy
4.1 Members can reference the society’s GDPR Policy (see website).
4.2 Respect the privacy and confidentiality of all members and volunteers, and do not share the personal information of any member without their consent.
4.3 Committee members should be minded that anything discussed in a meeting environment is confidential.
5. Health and Safety
5.1 All members should follow all health and safety guidelines provided by the society, including during rehearsals, performances, and events.
5.2 Members should report any health and safety concerns or incidents to a committee member immediately.
6. Representation
6.1 All members should represent the society positively in all public interactions, including social media and external communications.
6.2 All members must avoid making statements or taking actions that could harm the reputation of the society or any of its members, including social media and external communications.
7. Compliance
7.1 Members should acknowledge and accept that failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in termination of membership.
7.2 By adhering to this Code of Conduct, all members can help ensure a positive, supportive, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in Clitheroe Parish Church Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society.
